Gas dryers burn fuel to produce heat. That combustion produces moisture, gas byproducts and carbon monoxide, so gas dryer ventilation must exhaust to the outside — completely. A gas dryer vented indoors is a carbon monoxide hazard, not just a lint problem.
The #1 Rule: Metal Duct, Outdoors Only
Gas dryer venting rules require smooth metal duct (rigid or semi-rigid) that terminates outside. Never vent a gas dryer into a garage, attic, crawlspace, chimney or blocked wall cavity. The vent line should be short, straight and sealed with foil tape.
